Five Islands

The Five Islands that lend themselves to the name of the community and Provincial Park form one of the iconic sites of the geopark.

Legend holds that Kluskap, annoyed at mischievous Beaver, flung huge sods of Earth his way, forming the chain of islands: Moose, Diamond, Long, Egg and Pinnacle. Geologists see a story no less dramatic: a line of basalt in the Fundy rift valley, formed by outpouring of lava some 200 million years ago as Pangea ripped asunder.

At the Five Islands Provincial Park on Bentley Branch Road, you will find Geosites such as the Old Wife, Red Head, and the Triassic-Jurassic Fault. . There is Camping, hiking trails, and a day-use park.
